Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and skilled Custom Cabinet Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with clients to design custom cabinetry that meets their aesthetic and functional needs, produce detailed technical drawings, and work closely with our production and installation teams to ensure flawless execution. This role requires design expertise, technical proficiency, and excellent customer service skills.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients (in-person or virtually) to understand their vision, preferences, and space requirements for custom kitchen cabinets, vanities, and storage solutions.
  • Design Development: Create detailed, custom cabinet designs using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, 2020 Design, or Cabinet Vision), incorporating client specifications, measurements, and material preferences.
  • Technical Drawings: Produce accurate blueprints and 3D renderings for production, ensuring designs meet structural and aesthetic standards.
  • Material Selection: Recommend wood types, finishes, hardware, and accessories to align with client needs and project budgets.
  • Collaboration: Work with production teams to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing, including woodworking and assembly processes. Assist installation teams to address on-site challenges.
  • Customer Support: Provide updates to clients on design progress and delivery timelines, ensuring a seamless experience from concept to installation.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect finished cabinets to ensure they meet design specifications and American Cabinets’ quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in cabinet design, interior design, or a related field. Experience with custom cabinetry or woodworking preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, 2020 Design, Cabinet Vision or software that is similar).
    • Familiarity with woodworking tools and CNC machines is an advantage.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and customer service skills to engage with clients and internal teams.
    • Creative problem-solving and attention to detail for high-end, custom designs.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to visit job sites for measurements or installations, lift up to 25 lbs, and work in a workshop environment.
