Employment Type: Full-Time (40–50 hours/week; overtime frequently available)
Compensation: $14.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and proven skill
About American Cabinets -American Cabinets is a All wood, custom cabinetry manufacturing facility that serves homeowners, builders, and designers across the region. We’re looking for a dependable Cabinet Sanders to join our finishing team and help us maintain the smooth, high-quality surfaces our customers expect.
Primary Responsibilities
- Sand cabinet doors, drawers, face frames, moldings, panels, and other parts by hand and with power sanders using progressive grits (typically 80 → 120 → 150 → 180 → 220).
- Remove mill marks, scratches, dents, glue lines, and raised grain.
- Perform light scuff-sanding between finish coats and final denibbing so parts are perfectly smooth before clear coating or paint.
- Inspect work under good lighting and fix any imperfections before parts leave your station.
- Use random orbital sanders, palm sanders, detail sanders, sanding blocks, and shop dust extraction systems.
- Blow off dust and tack-cloth parts before they go to the finish room.
- Keep your sanding area clean and organized; change paper and sponges when needed.
- Follow all safety rules (wear respirator, hearing protection, and safety glasses).
Required Experience & Skills
- At least 3–12 months of sanding experience in a cabinet, furniture, or woodworking shop (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Familiar with basic power sanders and hand-sanding techniques.
- Good eyesight and attention to detail.
- Reliable, on-time, and able to stand for long periods.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
We’re Willing to Train the Right Person – If you’re careful, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things the right way, we’ll teach you everything you need to become a top-notch cabinet sander.
